  Andrea C.S. Berringer is a graduate of Michigan State University- James Madison College with a B.A. in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy with a specialization in World History. She studied abroad at the University of the West Indies in Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, and Guyana. After the completion of her undergraduate degree, she began her career in political campaigns working in finance. To date, she has worked on Congressional campaigns in three states and served as the finance director for the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee. Andrea began a PhD. program at Louisiana State University in the spring of 2008 studying Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Women and Gender Studies. In the summer of 2009 Andrea attended Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre’s program on forced migration and in 2010, the United Nations University Summer Academy. Her research includes work on migration labeling, gender and sexual based violence in conflict situations, gendered aid distribution in disaster situations, and human displacement models. Less
