Dr. Algerian Hart is an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Management in the College of Education at Western Illinois University. He recently served as the Director of Diversity Research & Educational Resources in the Office of the Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV).He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Long Beach State University, and his Master’s Degree and Ph.D. from Washington State University. Dr. Hart received the 2008 & 2010 Faculty of Excellence Award for student centered dedication and exemplary teaching skills. A former world-class athlete and coach, he is a recognized NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) speaker for Hazing, and Drugs and Alcohol Awareness. His research interests include:1) curriculum development, designed to empower and retain marginalized populations in higher education; and, 2) the plight of NCAA governed student-athlete development and access. Dr. Hart is the Western Region Director Commission on Education for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and serves on the National Board of Directors Education Foundation. He is recognized in the Who’s Who in Black Las Vegas highlighting the achievements of African Americans who live or have lived and worked in Las Vegas.
