Teaching and Learning Issues During the COVID-19 Pandemic

If the pandemic has contributed anything, it has drawn attention to the long-standing discrepancies between urban and rural communities. Due to a lack of technology/up-to-date technology, a lack of teacher familiarity with technology, limited digital resources, and a lack of financial resources, many school districts have failed to quickly shift to a digital teaching paradigm. Underfunded districts and children are suffering as a result of the pandemic. As a result of the transition to the digital classroom, several issues have emerged: students have been given technology and internet access, yet many do not know how to use it. This is alarming since schools are supposed to teach 21st-century skills, but many underfunded schools have failed to do so, as evidenced by the lack of digital literacy among their students. It’s something that all of us, parents, families, and communities, must work on together, and as a result, we must all be patient with one another for this to work and for our children to have what they require.
