Cuo Ya is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology of the University of Macau. She is interested in religion and society, ethnic issues and ethnic policy, the objectives of her research are (i) to figure out what roles of Tibetan Buddhism performed in Tibet society, (ii) to analyze what impacts of the Tibetan lamas on the current interaction between Sino-Tibetan Buddhist followers, (iii) And to explore to what extent religion shapes the Sino-Tibetan relationship in contemporary China. She is a Tibetan from Amdo Region, and got her MA degree from Beijing Normal University in Public Management. She speaks Tibetan, Chinese and English.
