Wendy F. Hensel, Interim Dean and Professor of Law at GSU College of Law, teaches and writes about disability discrimination in American society and its intersection with education, employment, and tort law. She has written numerous articles on the legal treatment of disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and is a frequent invited speaker around the country on related topics. Her latest article on the legal treatment of people with autism in the workplace was published in the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review in 2017.
Hensel graduated with honors from Harvard Law School and clerked for Judge Orinda Evans of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. She also practiced labor and employment law for several years with the law firm of Alston & Bird, where she litigated disability discrimination cases and counseled Fortune 500 companies on compliance with the ADA. She is an advocate for children with disabilities in the Atlanta metropolitan area and regularly provides pro bono counseling to parents seeking special education services in the public schools.
