  Verônica M. S. Pires holds a Ph.D. in Comparative History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), as well as masters and undergraduate degrees in the same field. She has done university extension work in the fields of American History, Contemporary History, and International Relations. She is an alumna of the United States Department of State, with certified training from the Study of U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSIs) Program on American Politics and Political Thought, coordinated by the University of Massachusetts. She has gained experience in research activities as a participante in Present Time Laboratory Syudies (TEMPO / UFRJ) and the Simulation and Scenarios Laboratory (LSC / EGN). Currently, she is a faculty member in the History and in the International Relations departments of Veiga de Almeida University (UVA), carrying out research on U.S. history within the context of global history. She also participates in the United States Study Network (REDE / UNIRIO).
