  Kate Greenway is an educator, researcher and artist practitioner. After graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre design and production, Kate worked across Canada as a stage manager, designer and scenic artist, including at the world renown Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Kate has taught English, drama and creative writing both internationally for MEI where she took students overseas, and for over twenty-five years as Department Chair of Drama and Media Arts at a prestigious Ontario private school. Kate utilized arts-based research methodologies in both her post-graduate degrees. Her Master's thesis "The Brooch of Bergen Belsen: A Journey of Historiographic Poeisis" included original artwork and won the Graduate Education Major Research Prize at York University. After exhibition at the Holocaust Resource Center at Manhattan College, her artwork was donated to the Director of the Survivors' Speakers Bureau for educational purposes. Her dissertation "Ephemera: The Searchings of an Adopted Daughter" included a gallery show of original glass art documenting her personal and professional journey, which has been exhibited further at several galleries and institutions. She has exhibited her art, and been an academic presenter across Ontario and the United States, including for the North East Modern Languages Association, The Motherhood Institute for Research and Community Involvement, The Museum of Motherhood, Toronto Public Libraries, The American Adoption Congress, Alliance for the Study of Adoption and Culture, the Holocaust Resource Center, and Canadian Association of Curriculum Studies. She has written numerous articles and creative non-fiction for Demeter Press, Ephemera Journal, Adoption Constellation, The Brock Journal of Education and the Canadian Society for Studies in Education. She is the recipient of numerous awards including York University Alumni "Excellence in Teaching" and Graduate Development Fund for Research, and MIRCI's Outstanding Graduate Conference Paper. She continues to write, research and create in her rural Ontario home.
