  My professional background is in pharmacy, more particularly in community pharmacy and compounding. I was the managing partner in a successful compounding pharmacy for five years before working for another 5 years within the industry. My love of learning led me to teaching where I am passionate about the student experience and making sure we equip students with the skills they will need to succeed in the world. Initially a maths/science teacher I created and implemented a range of STEM electives which covered a variety of subject areas including genetic engineering, aerodynamics, forensic science, robotics, space exploration, engineering of bridges and boats and video game programming. In my role as Junior Maths and Arts Head of Department at Brisbane SDE I enjoyed creating new pedagogical approaches to improve student outcomes. I am currently acting as Head of Department of Science at Wynnum State High school where I am incorporating gamification to engage students in senior Biology.
