I am a visual artist undertaking a practice lead (Painting) PhD investigation at the Univesity of Tasmania. My residence is in Hobart, the state capital of Tasmania. I have lived and worked in this city for the past 6 years having moved from the mainland to undertake a Masters of Fine Art (Research) degree which I completed in 2016. I have maintained a studio practice in painting for most of my adult life and have exhibited in group and solo exhibitions throughout Australia and in the USA. I have a particular passion for 20th century Australian social history and have at times used themes from this period in my painting practice. My other passion is wooden sailing boats and frequently cruise and race on the many waterways of this sea and river focused city. I travel in the world frequently having lived in the UK and the US for extended periods of time. I'm looking forward to visting Spain for this conference being an enthusiastic admirer of Spanish painting, Goya being my favourite.

'Memorist Evocation - Painting as a Mnemonic Device' This was a practice lead research investigation examining the implications (in studio easel painting) of returning to remembered settings from childhood, the objects from that time considered banal then but now recognised in their intelligent functioning as an adult.
