  Audrey Kwan is a second year MA student in York and Ryerson's joint program in Communication and Culture. With a BA in Art History and Communication from McGill University, her studies have led her to critically analyze the representation and inclusion of underrepresented/undervalued art and artists from an intersectional lens that draws on postcolonial, critical race, feminist, and Indigenous perspectives. The knowledge she continues to amass through education is also tempered with her experiences volunteering, interning, and working for a range of arts organizations-- including large-scale institutions such as the Burke Museum of Natural History, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. As a woman of colour and a settler who largely benefits from structures and systems of colonial violence, she locates the process of her research within on-going efforts to define and re-evaluate her role as a participant and ally to mobilize social change through artistic practice.
