Alexandra Murray-Leslie is an artistic researcher, perfromer, poly-artist and co-founder of Chicks on Speed (COS) an international art & design collective. COS is a collective who apply subversive do-it-yourself ethics and philosophic concepts of "making strange" (Shklovsky 1917) to interrogate the boundaries of performance art, film, pop music, design, craft and new media. Her current solo, hybridized artistic research and practice explores the nexus of art and science, with a focus on making/performing new technologies, like Computer Enhanced Footwear, 3d printers or conducting polysomnografic sleep studies (using wearable technologies) in scientific laboratories, hospitals, fabrication spaces and an-echoic acoustic chambers. The artistic scientific performative acts (of making in these art science contexts) are transformed into immersive, multi-chanel audiovisual installations, films, performance lectures and photographic works. Her artistic practice is representative of the ethos of the utopian "gesamtkunstwerk"-an all encompassing artwork. Her oeuvre; performance art, digital craft, film, wearable technology, conceptual pop music and guerillia fabrication strategies.
