    I was a research student for 1 year and I passed the entrance exam to pursue PhD program in this university. I am currently in my 2nd year in the program. My research focus is on Ainu people's participation in museums and exhibits about themselves. I am doing my main fieldwork at Nibutani, Hokkaido, Japan.

    I was working full time at my University as a Teaching/Research Assistant while doing my master's degree. I started doing volunteer works at the National Museum during this time as well. My major was Japan Studies, and during this time I continued my researches on Japanese minorities which led me to my master's thesis on Philippine Nikkeijin (Japanese-Filipino Children). A summarized version of my thesis is published, under the the title: Diverging Narratives: Lives and identities of Japanese-Filipino Children in the Philippines.

    I studied Anthropology, and did some Japanese archaeology. During this time, I was introduced to minority issues and problems in Japan, and since then started to do researches on Japanese minorities. After a year, I went back to the Philippines to finish my undergraduate degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
