Tella is an Associate Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin in Nigeria. Tella was a Commonwealth Scholar who did his Ph.D. through Commonwealth Scholarship at the University of Botswana in Oct. 2005- Sept. 2009. Tella was rated No 28 scientist in Nigeria in the maiden edition of the ranking of scientist across the region of the world released by webometric in March, 2015. Tella was awarded small grant for thesis for the Ph.D students' category in 2007 by the council for the development of social science research in Africa CODESRIA. Tella has writen and published many academic papers mostly in international reputable LIS journals. Tella is an external examiner for Ph.D. candidates in Babcock University, Nigeria, University of Ibdan, University of Zambia, University of Forth-Hara, and University of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. Tella wa awarded a research fellow in the Department of Information, University of South Africa for three years period 2016-2018. In January 2016, he was declared winner of the prestioug award - Dr. TM Salisu Award for the Most Published Librarian by Nigerian Library Association. In this January 2018, he has been declared the winner of the same award for the 2017 edition. Tella is part of editorial board members of some journals and a reviewer for many LIS journals. Tella has visited countries such USA, UAE, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, South-Africa, Botswana, Togo, and Republic of Benin. Tella research areas include E-learning, Information Literacy, Knowledge management, Information Communication Technology and Libraries, Psychology of Information, etc.
