Dr Pamela Isemikon Cyril-Egware, has a BA in Industrial Design from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, MFA from University of Nigeria Nsukka and a PhD from University of Port-Harcourt, all in Textiles and Fashion Design. She hails from Okpoama in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. She served as a visiting scholar to the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria between 2015/2016 and concluded with a solo exhibition titled "Waves of Cultural Harmony" and a fashion show titled "Dress Ethics". Pamela has taught at all levels of education. She is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts & Design, University of Port-Harcourt and the director of PAMEK Studio & Gallery in Port-Harcourt where she trains students on industrial training, community service by youths and holiday children in textile skills decoration and baking. She has published in reputable journals nationally and internationally, contributed to book chapters, conferences and exhibited within and outside Nigeria in group and solo. Pamela's research interest is in documenting the cultural heritage of the Niger Delta People on textiles for fashionable garments and interiors, especially using the aquatic forms as motifs. Her career has taken her to Reading, Norwich, Oxford, Cairo, Ghana, to mention but a few. Pamela served as the secretary of Female Artists Association of Nigeria(FEAAN) from 2011 to 2018, secretary of Society of Nigerian Artists(SNA) 2008 to 2014, member Textile Society of America(2016), Arts Council of African Studies Association(ACASA), Teachers registration council, Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU), and Okpoama Development Union(ODU) Yenagoa Chapter. She is blesssed with two daughters, Enenimiete Cyril-Egware and Karinate Cyril-Egware, who are both graduates of the University of Port-Harcourt and are undergoing their post graduate studies at the University of Lagos and Federal University of Technology Minna respectively. Pamela loves sports, cooking, baking, creative sewing and venue decoration for special occasions.
