Violet H. Harada is a professor emeritus at the University of Hawaii. She has coordinated the school library specialization for the Library and Information Science Graduate Program in the Department of Information and Computer Sciences. Her major areas of research involve inquiry-based approaches to information seeking and use and the study of teacher and librarian collaborative partnerships. Dr. Harada has jointly authored books and articles on the instructional role of school librarians as twenty-first century partners in learning with teachers. The American Library Association's Library Instruction Round Table cited her articles among the "Top Twenty Reearch Articles" in 2002, 2006, and 2009. Her most recent book is The Many Faces of School Library Leadership, 2nd edition (Libraries Unlimited, 2017), which she jointly edited with Sharon Coatney. From 2009-2013, she directed a project entitled PEARL (PATHWAYS TO EXCELLENCE AND ACHIEVEMENT IN RESEARCH AND LEARNING) that was funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services. The project fostered teahcer and librarian partnerships in working with high school students completing thier capstone research projects.She has shared her work at various state, national, and international conferences.
