  I am a cultural anthropologist educated in both Mexico and the United States. I also work and live in both countries. My research addresses undocumented immigration at Mexico's northern and southern borders, with a particular focus on risk and vulnerability, constructions of "others", constructions of national identity, race, xenophobia and solidarity. I am especially interested in the role of the body and emotions in configurations of "native" and "other."  I draw largely on qualitative methods, in particular, narrative, discourse and image.
