  My current book project, under contract with West Virginia University press for its Teaching in Higher Education series, is tentatively titled, Student Bodies: applying the insights of embodied cognition to improve teaching and learning in higher ed. This project has required me to undertake study of contemporary neuroscience and consider its applications to teaching and learning, especially in the humanities. My disciplinary research interests include early modern women writers, manuscript texts, and translation studies. Past publications include articles on teaching early modern English translations of Ovid and early world literature. For me, teaching is learning: while my own understanding of subject matter is deepened through sharing it with others, effecting learners' transformation is in itself and intellectual challenge requiring creativity and problem-solving. My commitment to pedagogical problem-solving has been recognized by the University System of Georgia, which awarded me the sole recipient of its Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award in 2013.
