I am a published author, food photographer and culinary instructor. I specialize in the cuisines of the Levant. Born in Lebanon, I moved to London, UK in the mid seventies, where I trained as a film maker. I am primarily a self-taught cook, though I enrolled in cooking courses in London and the Cordon Bleu in Lima, Peru to explore modern culinary trends. In 2007, in partnership with Maria Rosario Niada, I founded the Libaliano Kitchen, a cooking workshop and a blog exploring Lebanese and Italian culinary cultures: www.libaliano.com. This interaction resulted in a first cookbook, "Lentils: Traditional and Modern Recipes from the Mediterranean," followed by "Chickpeas" and "Beans". The books are grouped in a box-set in their second edition. My recipes were featured in "Taste and Flavors," a monthly culinary magazine in Lebanon as well as in "Soup for Syria," a book dedicated to help Syrian refugees. I appeared in several TV and radio shows in Lebanon and I am a regular guest chef in Tawlet Souk el Tayeb, a restaurant and a platform for regional cooking. I also run training sessions for local Lebanese NGOs such as PRODES and La Voix de la Femme Libanaise. In London, alongside the cooking classes I held in my kitchen, I also ran occasional workshops for London based charities. I have participated in conference panels both in Beirut and tCambridge, Mass. I am fluent in Arabic, French and English. I currently divide my time between Lebanon and NYC.
