I began my career teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language in local public schools with a degree in Spanish literature. My hobby of Latin dance highlighted for me the lack of resident knowledge of, or even the existence of, a large portion of the local refugee and immigrant community. The Social Science Program at Syracuse University allows me to bridge research and community involvement in a way that I hope will encourage more collaboration between community members and organizations. My future career endeavors will involve migration and resettlement research from a yet undecided locale. When I am not working or spending time with my children, I enjoy traveling and dancing and can often be found marrying those passions by attending dance congresses in various parts of the globe.
