Timothy Kaufman-Osborn is the Baker Ferguson Professor of Politics and Leadership at Whitman College in the United States. Kaufman-Osborn received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1982 and his B.A. from Oberlin College in 1976. He is the author of three books as well as over two dozen scholarly articles on topics including capital punishment, the discipline of political science, feminist theory, and American pragmatism. From 2001-03, he served as president of the Western Political Science Association. He also served as a member of the Executive Council of the American Political Science Association as well as president of the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington. Kaufman-Osborn is the recipient of numerous awards for his scholarship and teaching, including the Western Political Science Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award as well as the Pi Sigma Alpha and Betty Nesvold Women and Politics Awards; the Robert Fluno Award for Distinguished Teaching in the Social Sciences; and the Whitman College Town-Gown Award.
