Thao N. Le is currently associate professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in the Human Development & Family Studies Department. She received her Masters degree at UC Berkeley in public health and PhD at UC Davis in social psychology. Prior to entering academia, she was a Senior Researcher at the National Council on Crime and Delinquency for more than 10 years, where she conducted youth violence prevention programs targeting at-risk and ethnic minority populations. Her interests and focus now center on contemplative practices (e.g., mindfulness) and service learning to facilitate health and well-being among disadvantaged and resource poor communities, as well as the role of culture as expressed through metaphors/stories to promote ethics and wisdom.
