  Teresa has been heavily involved in coaching and mentoring of youth. She loves coaching high school girls’ soccer which is part of what led her to study sociology. Teresa has also been a tutor for youth and high school athletes and has also volunteered for rehabilitation and training programs for young athletes overcoming injuries as well as with the Special Olympics. Teresa is an officer for AKD for the 2017-2018 school year. She has also become involved with the GAP research project on campus for the Fall 2017 semester. As a new graduate student Teresa is interested in doing research on the lives of female high school athletes, the media’s portrayal of female athletes and the impact that has on young female athletes and inequality in education.
