She was a researcher and toxicologist with Nestle( Singapore) for several years before joining Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. She was Director of the School of Life Sciences and Chemical Technology and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. She also was the biotechnology coordinator and the first Director of the Office of Undergraduate Education at The University of Queensland. She was the Registrar and Senior Director for Student Affairs at the Singapore University of Technology and Design and is currently Dean ( Academic) of the Science, Engineering, Environment and Technology Group of Griffith University
Sushila was the chairman of the International Life Sciences Institute
( Washington DC) from 2010 -2012 and has been a member of many national committees
