I am currently a first year Clinical Psy.D student and have an interest in specializing in children who have experienced trauma and have chronic illnesses. I have experience in working with children who were diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from Hurricane Sandy in New York. As I worked with these children, the techniques I used were, art therapy and the journey of hope. Additionally, I have worked with teenagers from diverse cultures, who were experiencing trauma from low socio-economic status. Through working with teenagers, I led various group sessions and helped them explore their feelings through art projects. However, I have a special interest in helping children with Marfan Syndrome because I, myself was diagnosed at birth. I strongly believe that creating a bibliotherapy tool will allow children to understand the diagnosis and provide them with a resource to emotionally cope with treatments. Although, not only will this tool provide comfort to children, but it will also allow parents to gain an understanding of how their children feels.
