  Dr. Cox is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Utah Valley University, where she works to help prospective junior high and high school faculty better understand the psychological landscape of their students in order to improve classroom climates and instruction. Her research interests include developmental neuropsychology, technology integration, and learner-centered teaching. She is particularly interested in finding ways to engage students in deeper learning using technology and in the technology-life balance. Her current research is focused on how technology use at school can help narrow the digital divide for underserved populations. Dr. Cox has presented at numerous local, regional, national, and international conferences, including the prestigious Learning and the Brain conference in Boston and San Francisco, and has also been a TEDx speaker. She has conducted countless technology integration workshops for teachers in Utah and across the country. She also gives presentations about brain development for teachers and students of all ages in an effort to help both groups better understand learning and the impact of modern society on development and well-being, as well as strategies we can all use to make the most of this amazing period of development. Currently, Dr. Cox is working with the CREATE Lab out of Carnegie Mellon University, the Utah STEM Action center, the UVU PREP program, and local schools to bring robotics and computer science to underserved students. She is currently serving as a volunteer co-teacher at Springville High School and also volunteered as a teacher for at-risk students at Lakeridge Junior High (2014-2015) in addition to her responsibilities at the University. Dr. Cox has also won several awards for her teaching and scholarship, including the Alumni Outstanding Educator Award (2012 & 2018), UVU Academy Award for Online Course Design (2018), School of Education Graduate Mentor Award (2017), School of Education Faculty Excellence Award (2016), and UVU Civically Engaged Scholar Award (2011).
