Sarah Hughes is an artist, educator and curator.
Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally, including solo shows at South London Gallery, Cass Sculpture Foundation, and Supplement, London. Her compositions have been performed internationally, including events such as 'Three Generations of British Composers: Skempton, Crane, Hughes', performed by the Southland Orchestra, Los Angeles.
Hughes has taught in art schools across the UK, including West Dean College, London College of Communication, Nottingham Trent University, Brighton University, and Sheffield Hallam University.
Her work features in a number of publications including 'Experimental Music Since 1970' by Jennie Gottschalk (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2016) and 'Word Events: Perspectives on Verbal Notation' by James Saunders and John Lely (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2012).
Working as Assistant Curator at West Dean College, Hughes ties together the art student’s studio practice with the college’s historic collection and archive. Finding ways to engage students in ‘live project’ makes the learning experience unique and offers new insight into the cross overs between contemporary practice and art history.
