  I am a retired Canadian teacher, currently working on a Doctorate of Education at James Cook University. I am examining the effectiveness of a written role-drama structure I developed in an experimental trial. At the time of the creation of this process I was a special education teacher working with a class of students with severe learning disabilities. The idea for this role-play structure was influenced by what I was learning about "Drama in Education", the focus of my Masters' Degree at UBC. I have taught every grade from one through twelve and have used this process with my special education classes from grades three through twelve, as well as "regular classes" grades three through seven. It is the most exciting and effective and fun teaching technique for both my students and myself. In this research I am investigating why. Less
