Robert Hamilton graduated with a B.A. (History Honours) from the University of New England. After postgraduate degrees in History and Social Science Education, Robert worked in the New South Wales education system. In 2003, he was the recipient of a prestigious Westfield NSW Premier’s Modern History Scholarship. Robert has held lecturing appointments at Western Sydney University, the University of Sydney, the University of New England, and University of Technology Sydney in History and Education. His fields of research and publication range across Film History, Austral-Asian History, Postcolonial and Aboriginal Studies. He has been an academic visitor at the Menzies Centre for Australian Studies London, Leiden University in Holland, Michigan State University, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, BMICH in Columbo Sri Lanka and University of South Australia. Since 2010, he has taught Australian Studies at the University of Technology Sydney. He is currently in post-production with his first film, The Witchdoctor and the Windmill, a long form documentary on the life and art of the Pintupi Modernist, Linda Syddick Napaltjarri.
