Baking. Sugar not salt. Creation.

On a lonely, windy and miserable, rocky road lived a girl called Celia. She was only 16 but she loved to cook. One day she saw that an owl had arrived on her verandah. Celia walked over and took the letter from the owl, and then read it out loud to herself. It said:

Dear Celia,

Would you like to join the baking competition Bake like the Wind? If so it starts at 2:30 PM, located at Bondi Beach in  Sydney. Please contact us at:

016238642387

Thank you,

from Clare, Wil and Bob

Celia was amazed by what she saw in the letter. "I'm allowed to join a baking competition? I can't believe it," she said in a amazed voice.

Two weeks later, Celia went to Sydney for the competition, There were only 3 people plus her at the competition. The judges were Clare Wilson, Wil Turner and Bob Stuwart. Clare Wilson was Celia's favourite chef judge and she finally got to meet her. She waved and she said, "Hi."

Clare replied to her, "Hi there. I heard that you're my biggest fan. It's Celia, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is Celia," Celia said in a nervous but also in a confident way. The competition was finally starting!

Clare Wilson, Bob Stuwart and Will Turner

"Welcome, everyone, including guests and bakers!" said Bob Stuwart in a welcoming voice.

"The first round is a cake - the tallest cake you've ever seen before. It needs to have at least 18 layers or more," said Clare. "Now the rules are you all get 8 hours of time to bake and decorate your wonderful cake. Now I hope you know the rest because it will be on the recipie. And the timer starts NOW!"

The cake

One hour later

"One hour has gone!" said Wil.

"One hour! Wow time goes by pretty fast," whispered Celia to herself without paying attention. She accidentally added salt instead of sugar which of course was a mistake. Celia turned around and realised she put salt in instead of sugar in the batter but she had already mixed it in!

Seven hours have gone

"One hour left!" Wil shouted. "You should be decorating by now!"

Celia was kind of calm but also mostly terrified of what the judges would think of it. "Celia has managed to get 10 more layers of cake on top of her 12 other layers of cake!" shouted Clare.

"Ohh no and four of them have fallen off. What a bummer!" said Wil.

"That's the time folks!" yelled out Bob to everyone. Celia's cake looked spectacular but on the inside it would not taste good at all.

All the other competitors were picking on Celia, saying things like, "Yours looks terrible. That is not going to get the judges' attention."

Celia was shaking so much. "I think we can start with Celia's first," said Clare politely.

Wil, Bob and even Clare all loved it. "Mmm, dis is really good," said Wil with his mouth full.

"Ohh yeah, you can say that twice," said Clare.

"But, but I added salt instead of sugar by accident."

"We don't like . . .WE LOVE IT!!!!" yelled Bob happily.

"That is the perfect mistake," said Celia to herself with a grin.

"We don't even want to taste the others because CELIA IS OUR WINNER!!!!"

"WHOO! YEAH! NICE JOB, CELIA!" the crowd shouted.

Celia went home and was so happy that she even baked another cake just for herself (and this time with sugar not salt).

"That is the perfect mistake," said Celia to herself with a grin.
