Issues around the world

Do you know that world-wide 13,000 to 15,000 pieces of plastic are dumped in our oceans? Our world has some serious global issues which include equality, pollution and bushfires. One of the problems on planet Earth is equality. Across the globe some people don't get the same rights because of their gender and even some people feel ashamed of choosing their interests because stereotypes suggest females like pink, males like sport, for example. Which is not right. Pollution is a massive threat to our environment. It can harm sea creatures and even people. Another problem is bushfires. One of the major threats to Australia is bushfires that occur when it is dry, hot or windy.

Equality: Everyone has the same rights

Do you know that one in every 20 females consider a career in science or mathematics, while only one in 5 men. If you don't know, equality means being equal. Gender equality is men and women having the same rights and opportunities. In the 45th Australian Government there are 145 males while only 75 females and Julia Gillard is still the only female prime minister. There are these stereotypes that can affect males/females' interests in jobs. For example, males might not consider careers in the arts, which people consider a female occupation. How would you like a world where you can't be judged by your gender?

Men and Women should be equal

Pollution: Keep our water clean

Do you know that every plastic still exists in our universe. Pollution is substances which are harmful or poisonous to the environment. Oceans are filled with rubbish and plastic bags that harms sea creatures. Pollution is all the rubbish that gets dumped in the ocean. Activities that people do on land can affect the quality of water, such as, our waste often gets washed into our waterways. "Be part of the solution, not part of the pollution". Pollution is a massive threat to animals because you can't live in an environment surround by filth.

Polluted water affects sea creatures' homes and environment

Bushfires: Flames and the Fury

Much of the Australian bush has been shaped by bushfires. A bushfire is basically a flame that spreads rapidly. Bushfires occur mainly in summer when its scorching hot, strong winds and low humidity. For many people in Australia, summer time is the best time of the year. It's a time for swimming at the beach or playing cricket in the backyard, but it is also fire season. One of the most notable bushfires in Australia was the 2003 Canberra Bushfires. On January 18, 2003, there were some bushfires burning in the Brindabella mountains. Sadly four people died trying to fight the flames. Almost 500 people were critically injured, and lost 470 homes. Bushfires can also occur if lighting strikes a tree. Don't worry too much because firefighters are always working to stop fires.

Conclusion: The Future

In conclusion, people are judged because of their gender and opinion, some sea creatures environments are polluted and in danger. To stop these issues we need to do a couple of things. First things first, we need to spread awareness about these terrible problems so people can make a stand. We also need to start small. We will do our bit first and start off putting our rubbish in a bin, then others will follow and we will have a safe clean environment. You start off as you until it gets to the government, who might enforce a law. Just remember as a community we can stop these issues in their own tracks.
