Icon for Lost Keys

Lost Keys

"Hey Tim can you go to the car and get the food and drinks?"

"No Problem Dad." Later on when Tim wandered off in to the distance of the north side of the park, his family were finishing the game of footy. The park was brilliant to play on because it was smooth and there was soft luscious grass. The park was the most popular landmark in our small town. Everyone played there kicking through the thick tree stumps we use as goal post. There were trees surrounding the beauty of our oval. Across the park there was a beach with lovely curly waves that Tim loved to catch to the shore. Everyone in our entire family was delighted to have a picnic and then to swim and play. Tim's long goldy hair was waving in the wind - a typical surfer's hair. Tim's Uncle was friends with the one and only Dustin Martain. Dusty played for Richmond Tigers and lead his team to a premiership. Even though Tim loved to catch waves and loved to kick a footy, he really loved to play with Dad's keys. He liked Dad's keys because they make nice tingley sounds. He could see his Dad's glamourous maroon car in the sunlight.

Can I lift the drain

"Oh no Dad is going to kill me," he stared in to the drain where he heard a gianormous SPLASH!!! Tim didn't have Dad's keys anymore. "What am I going to do? Well I could try to lift the drain up." Tim tried to lift the drain up but it was too heavy. Heavier then a heard of elephants."Well that's no use.Wait! My uncle is a professional footy player who had lead his team to a grand final. Surely he can lift the drain up. But I probably can't let Dad see me because knowing Dad, he will get suspicious". Tim moved quietly tiptoeing and tapped Dusty on the shoulder. Dustin looked down into the darkest depths of the drain "YOU LOST YOUR DAD'S SPECIAL KEYS" Dusty yelled with some frustration.

"Um yeah," Tim replied. Dustin pulled with one mighty good lift, but couldn't lift the drain. "Sorry Tim I am strong but unfortunately not strong enough to lift that thing. Quick here comes Dad."

Searching in the Drain

"Hey Tim what is taking you so long to get some food and drink," asked Dad.

"Um sorry Dad I....I...." Tim was looking desperately for an excuse. "I Stumbled over a stick." Maybe you should tell everyone to go and have a swim at the Beach because it is scorching hot and there is a lot of humidity, and look the water looks delightful, the sun is blazing and the sand is as soft as your pillow. Just have a break from running around in the brightness of the sun."

Tim hoped Dad would fall for his bait."Okay Tim we'll go to the beach"Dad and Dusty went back to the shady gumtree were all the family was sitting. The family wondered off to the beach with their surfboards."Aren't you coming Tim" Asked his little brother Nick.

" No I'll set up the picnic table" Tim replied " Isn't he becoming more responsible" Tim's Mum said. Tims cheeks going a bright shade of red. Tim watched as his family was playing around being a bit jealous.

"Ok how am I going to get these keys."He looked down the keys were nowhere in sight it was Pitch Black down there.Tim throw a rock down into the dark and miserable drain, but 7 seconds seemed like a whole Irtirnity.

Avoiding the Truth

Meanwhile the family were coming back from the beach."Did you guys have a nice dip," said Tim thinking under pressure. "Yeah it was awesome I caught this huge wave and I went down like when I was on that roller coaster at movie world."

"Sorry, Nic, I think your speaking in tounges, can your explain your time again slowly." Hping to buy some more time to come up with a plan.

"Tim, the car hasn't even been touched, Have you set up the picnic?"I am just looking at this water rushing through to the ocean, THE OCEAN," Tim raced down the beach like a racehorse and jumped into the water.

Searching across the water, he reeled back when he saw something moving towards him. It was a fin coming closer and Tim sprinted out of the water like one of those Scooby Doo cartoons he had watched thousands of times. "Now where is those Keys."

Searching left, looking right, he walked up the beach probably over 1000 Times. On the other side of the beach Tim saw something shining brightly in the inviting shallow water. "Could it be" Tim reached out and picked up a crab-shell. "Why can I not find these keys. I think I am just going to tell Dad the truth."

Little Nic Saves the Day

Tim was feeling guilty. "Dad I...I have...Accidenty....I have accidentally lost your keys."Well where did you lose them "Dad yelled sort of crossed "I lost them in the drain and it could be anywhere in the ocean by now." Tim replied in a sad and miserable tone. I am not crossed that you lost my keys, I am cross because you lied to me. "Soz Dad," Tim said emotionally "Now lets try to find those keys."

After that talk, Tim, Nic, Dusty, Mum and Dad all went into the water to look for the keys. "Hey I found them buried in the sand over here." Nic yelled very exited and proud of himself. Nic was more excited than a four year old at a wiggels concert.

Tim and Dad Rushed towards Nic and took the Keys out of the ground. The family went back to the shady gumtree and ate the lunch. After digging into the sandwiches and sculling the lemonade. Tim's family finally went home relieved.
