Panos Kourgiotis was born in 1983 in Thessaloniki. He studied international relations, history of the mediterranean region and political sciences in the Universities of the Aegean as well as in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has completed his studies in Arab language, living for two years in countries of the Middle East and North Africa. He lives in Thessaloniki and delivers lectures concerning the Arab language and Middle Eastern history in the Department of Balkan Slavic and Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia since 2015. His scientific interests are concentrated in the study of Political Islam, religious and political movements and communities in the Middle East, Colonialism and Modernity. He is the author of (translation from Greek) Islamism's first youth (1928 - 1948) - discovering the world of the Muslim Brothers (Thessaloniki: Zitros Publishing House, 2016).
