  Raised in California, I moved to Karachi to pursue my architecture degree, focusing on projects in low income communities. Realizing my passion for urban development, I obtained my Master’s in Urban Planning from New York University. I accepted the role of Director of the Hurricane Sandy Storefront Development Program. This pilot program assisted almost a hundred businesses in low income neighborhoods. Refining and securing additional funding for the program, I moved on to the NYC Economic Development Corporation, supervising capital projects within NYC. As Project Manager, I engaged with several stakeholders, and made sure timelines were met. Upon leaving the public sector, coordinated construction issues and wayfinding for the new Stanford Hospital. I now teach Design Studio and Theory of Architecture at IVSAA and Cities and Urban Development at Habib University. Alongside teaching, I am a consultant on organizational and strategic management to design firms. I am amazed at the unpredictability Karachi has to offer, and how resilient the citizens are. Streets as my desired public spaces, I believe transforming them are the key to urban civility. Spending time in Karachi and NYC, I enjoy linking them through the endless restaurants, the urban challenges, and the emerging creative class.
