Appointed as Professor & Head of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Scholarship (CENTALS) at the School of Nursing, University of the Western Cape, Cape Town (Jan 2009). Former Head of School and Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO Afro) Collaborating Centre for Nursing & Midwifery Education in Community Problem-solving, School of Nursing, Uni-versity of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa (2004-2007). Presently, an Advisor on Health Professions’ curriculum matters for the Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, (an African Development Bank supported project) for the National Health Training College programmes in Lesotho. Have had over 25 years international teaching experience at the Diploma, degree and post-graduate levels for Nursing and allied health professions in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Botswana, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates, with specialised interests in Psychiatric-Mental Health, community Health & Primary Health Care. Have been involved as a consultant in Life-long learning, community based - problem based learning, learner-centred health professional education & curriculum development. Research interests have mainly been in the areas of diversity, substance abuse, health profes-sional education programming, innovative teaching, health promotion and illness prevention, with extensive mentoring and supervision experience for post graduate students at masters and doctoral levels.
