From 2002 to 2007 he was research fellow at the Social Science Research Centre Berlin in the project group on mobility within the research unit “Innovation and Organization”. In that time he did social scientific mobility research in several projects. First of all, against of the background of the overall dominant car he asked for the future of public transport. In the research project “Mobility in a Competitive Framework” he was inquiring the ways to forge a policy strategy for creating integrated transport under the competitive conditions on the market. Finally he could sum up the state of the art in social scientific mobility research by editing the first German Handbook of Transport Policy. Since May 2008 he is assistant professor at the chair of Integrated Transport Planning of the Berlin Institute of Technology. He leads the young researcher network “spacial mobility in the Second Modernity” which is funded by the German Research Foundation.
