He is public spirited and loves to teach, consult and give public lectures. He is married to another academic, Catherine Ogechi Azuwike, a Microbiologist that lectures in Department of Biotechnology at Federal University OF Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. They live in Owerri with their 5 children.
