Currently, I teach courses for preservice teachers as well as courses in the master's program for inservice teachers. Courses include Human Relations, Language and Culture, Literacy Methods, English Language Learners, and Curriculum and Planning as well as a Reading Research Seminar for master level students. In addition, I supervise student teachers in their field placements. Presentations at regional and national conferences include how to work with English as a second language learners, literacy strategies for struggling learners, and reflective thinking as a means for improving instruction. My research currently focuses on multicultural education and perceptions and beliefs of preservice teachers towards diversity and teaching children from diverse backgrounds. My classroom teaching experiences include teaching in a Bilingual program in Texas, a summer Migrant Program in Wisconsin, regular elementary classroom teaching, Gifted and Talented Program, and teaching adult ELLs.
