Niamh McGrogan is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Education at Bath Spa Universty. Her career began in children's social care services before progressing into counselling and subsequently education. As a class teacher, Head of Year and Maths Lead in a large Kent primary school, she obtained her Master's degree with the Open University and progressed to an academic career at Bath Spa University. Niamh is enthusiastic about supporting future teachers in their training andd development, contributing to a high quality training programme that promotes effective and inspirational practitioners. She is passionate about supporting Bath Spa Teachers to develop their approaches to teaching mathematics to ensure that the richness of the subject, and the pleasure it can inspire in classrooms, is enhanced at every opportunity to the benefit of all children. She is also passionate about supporting teachers in engaging with and in research, and collaborates with both teachers and students to conduct research in the classroom and draw conclusions that can enhance development and understanding of practice. Her current doctoral research focuses on investigating research capacity building in schools through collaborative research activity.
