Nicholas is the Principal Investigator for the Industrial Design Innovation (IDI) research project at Northumbria University’s School of Design. IDI seek to record and evaluate the impact and legacy that design culture has upon companies’ innovation strategy when the function of design is employed within an organization though design student intervention.
Nicholas’s first degree is in industrial design and his Doctorate focused on expert designers’ experience of practice. Nicholas teaches across the School of Design’s Post Graduate provision and supervises Doctoral Research programmes.
Nicholas is an active researcher with interest in the following areas: design and reflective practice theory; the wisdom traditions and design thinking; international multidisciplinary innovation practices; and the experience and practise of designing.
