Dr. Nancy Cade is the Davenport Distinguished Professor of History and Political Science and Chair of the Division of Social Science at the University of Pikeville. For the past 32 years, Nancy has been an active engaged faculty member in support of the University of Pikeville mission. In addition to her teaching duties, Nancy has been involved with various student activities and organizations including serving a sponsor of Phi Alpha Theta, the history club, the social sciences club, Student Government, and the Sophomore class. She has worked as the pre-law advisor and campus coordinator for various scholarships and internships. In 1988 she founded the University of Pikeville Academic team and served as it coach for eight years. More recently, she has focused on supporting students participating in The Washington Center Seminars and Internships. Since 2004, Nancy has served as a faculty leader for more than twenty of the seminars that more than eighty UPIKE students have attended. Her dedication to teaching has led to a variety of teaching awards including the Sears Roebuck Teaching award, the Walker Teaching Award, the Sturgill Distinguished Professorship, and the Faculty Leader of the Year from the Washington Center. Nancy served as a consultant of the History Channel’s miniseries on the Hatfields and the McCoys and appeared on the supporting documentary. Nancy has made a variety of presentations on the pedagogy and value of seminars and has been a regular political contributor of Kentucky Educational Television.
