Mohammad Moniruzzaman is a doctoral student at Waterloo-Laurier joint University graduate program in Geography. His areas of research include global migration and food security, migration and development. Moniruzzaman holds a BSocSc degree in Public Administration with honours, an MSocSc in Public Administration from University of Chittagong, Bangladesh and an MA degree in Economics from Ritsumeikan University Japan. As development practitioner he worked both in public sector and nongovernment organizations (NGOs). He worked in Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) - working globally with multifaceted development interventions. Later he joined Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) – the premier civil service training institution in Bangladesh. In BPATC he was involved in training and development activities and policy research. Moniruzzaman has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP), Asian Development Bank Scholarship (ADB-JSP) and Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) from Canadian Government.
