Meeri has an academic background in psychology and holds a PhD in education. Since the late eighties, Meeri has lectured in the pedagogy and social literacy related fields in Australia. While currently on leave from Macquarie University, Meeri lectures in intercultural pedagogy at Södertörn University in Stockholm, Sweden.
Meeri's research involves comparative and discursive analyses international pedagogy in Europe and Australia. She is co-editor (with Peter Ninnes) of "Internationalizing Higher Education: critical explorations of pedagogy and policy" and (with Anna Reid) of "Researching International Pedagogies: sustainable practice for teaching and learning in higher education" both published by Springer.
