Maxwell Philbrook is a graduate student at the University of Missouri, Columbia, USA. He will receive his PhD in English in 2015 with a focus in Rhetoric and Composition. He received his MA in 2010 from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and his BA in 2007 from Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN) both in English. His research examines the theory and practice of writing and rhetoric in a global world. His dissertation builds a theory of transnational rhetoric, where messages are instantly transmitted and received by radically different audiences than were originally intended. No where is this more apparent, his dissertation argues, than in arguments made about food.
