Dr. Margaret Walker has been an artist and educator in a variety of community, school, museum and university settings in New York and Maryland. In New York she taught studio art at Lexington School for the Deaf and The Educational Alliance Community Art School. Walker worked as an educator at the Isamu Noguchi Art Museum, and taught art education courses at Adelphi University. She now teaches in the art education program at the University of Maryland College Park, as well as coordinating the Masters program in Arts Integration in UMD’s College of Education. Margaret Walker holds an EdD from Columbia University’s Teachers College in Art and Art Education, where the focus of her dissertation work was the role art making plays in critical thinking and adolescent identity development.
