  Magnus Thorsson holds a PhD. in Hospitality Management. The focus of his research is consumer motivations for sustainable hospitality practices. He graduated with a Masters in Teaching from Bennington College. The focus of his thesis was consumer behavior & psychographic changes in travel habits of Americans ages 65 and older. His research interest is behavioral economics pertaining to sustainable food systems. In addition to owning and operating his own 30-room Vermont hotel, Magnus has worked for specialty food retailer in the DC area as well as Hilton Hotels in department head capacity. His career, spanning well over 30 years includes managerial positions in the fields of: culinary, dining room service, retail, lodging operations and opening of new corporate outlets. Magnus currently holds a position of assistant professor with the International Hotel School in the Hospitality College at Johnson & Wales University, where his emphasis is on entrepreneurship and sustainable lodging operations.
