Maribeth Jorgensen is a licensed mental health counselor and an Assistant Professor at University of South Dakota. She has vast clinical experiences and a great desire to help people who have been impacted by suicide. She has the highest tier license in Nebraska and has been working as a licensed counselor since 2006. She is also licensed in South Dakota and Washington State. She is an active trainer for suicide prevention and has created and ran suicide prevention workshops for K-12 educators, coaches, police officers, medical professionals, and clinicians. Her primary advocacy focus is on suicide prevention and aftercare services. Her clinical work lead her to this professional focus as she worked with many clients and families who were either directly or indirectly impacted by suicide. Through her clinical work, she noticed there were minimal community supports and she felt strongly to try and make a difference. She is also highly focused on supporting student athletes so they can have greater wellness and performance.
