  My background is unusual, an amalgam of resurce and business training, private sector experience and public service. After several years as an environmental specialist with the federal government, I relocated to Hawaii with my family where I started a land use planning consulting firm, Environs Pacific, which represented some of Hawaii's largest firms and landowners. In 1996, I decided I wanted to teach and was accepted into the business program at the University of Oregon. I finished in 2000, one of the first in the country with a PhD with an emphasis in E-marketing. Except for a return to Hawaii in 2003-2006, I have taught in different university programs in Oregon, Colorado, and Virginia.
