I have a double professional formation in under graduate and master degree in history and development planning in the University of Paris VII, Jussieu, and a PHD in History in the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, in Paris, France. I have participated and leaded more than 40 research projects in three principal subjects: 1) World and regional history of fishing, culture and commerce of nacre and pearls; 2) Relations society/nature for conservation and sustainability in Baja California Sur and the Gulf of California region; 3) Knowledge, valorization, development and sustainability of South Baja California oases. I am editor and author of 15 books, 70 articles and 70 book chapters. I am co-founder of the Sociedad Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Historia Ambiental (SOLCHA). From 2010-2013, I was Lead Author of the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). I am leader and founder of the Red Interdisciplinaria para el Desarrollo Integral y Sustentable de los Oasis Sudcalifornianos (RIDISOS). I collaborate with the State Government of BCS and the Municipal Government of La Paz, also with NGO in several processes of territorial planning, conservation and development.
