Lorri Kanauss completed her PhD in Public Health from Walden University in 2012 after she had earned a Master's degree in Public Health (also from Walden) in 2007 and a Master's degree in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Illinois University in 1997, where she served as a graduate assistant. Lorri completed her dietetic internship at University of Indianapolis, IN, in 1995 after graduating with her bachelor's degree in dietetics from Western Illinois University in 1994.
Lorri Kanauss has been employed by WIU for 11 years and currently serves as the Dietetic Program Director and Director of the Bella Hearst Diabetes Institute on campus. She is also a program reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and has earned the Health/Fitness Specialist Certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. She is a member of several professional organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, American College of Sports Medicine, American Public Health Association, and the National Wellness Institute. Lorri’s research interest is in the areas of weight management programs, diabetes prevention, and wellness.
