Lori Hanson, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, and Director of the Division of Social Accountability in the College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. She is past North America co-representative of the People's Health Movement and a member, ally and supporter of numerous other local and global feminist, de-colonizing, social justice movements, organizations and initiatives. Her work includes almost four decades of allying with Nicaraguan rural femininst, anti-mining and student movements. As an activist scholar she endeavours to push the limits, practice academic freedom, and learn from and support varied forms of community resistance; Illustratively, her research has included the realms of rural feminist activism, radical student movements, anti-mining movements, community opioid crisis responses, anti-austerity, Fair Trade and gender equity, and participatory and transformative education.
